We get it. Roofs aren’t cheap, especially in hard-to-reach places like the San Juan Islands, and they really aren’t what you want to be spending your hard-earned money on. The need to replace your roof usually comes as a pain-point: your roof is in such rough shape that it isn’t worth repairing, and it’s time to shell out some serious coin for a complete roof replacement. Luckily, in your search for a reputable San Juan Island roofing contractor, you came across us: A&R Construction.
We have many years of experience in both residential and commercial roofing across the state of Washington. We do everything from small homes to huge commercial buildings and apartment complexes, totally flat roofs to full 12/12 pitches. Plus, our combination of quality and value cannot be beat. So whatever your new roofing needs may be, A&R guarantees we can provide a quality solution at an incredible value.
Uncompromising Quality Meets Unbeatable Value
At A&R Construction, we insist on using only the highest-quality roofing products. Combine that with the fact that our bids are never beaten by a competitor using the same quality materials, and you’ve defined our unbeatable value. It’s been the key to our success since day one: we are literally the best-value quality roofing company you can choose in Washington, period.
Yes, you can find cheaper, lower-quality roofing contractors if you look hard enough, but you will get what you pay for. You’ve heard the saying, “Buy nice, or buy twice.” We’ll keep you from having to do the latter. You will not find our level of quality at a lower price, and we guarantee it. Plus, we are proud to offer financing as low as $250/month for qualified customers, so there is virtually no excuse to consider anyone but A&R for your new roof.
We’re also willing to go to great lengths and distances to provide our roofing services, and have multiple boats to allow us great travel flexibility. No island in the sound is too remote. We regularly service San Juan Island, Orcas Island, Lopez Island, Shaw Island in our home base, the San Juans. We also occasionally service nearby islands and locales such as Whidbey Island, Camano Island, Bainbridge Island and Fidalgo Island / Anacortes, just to name a few.
Industry-Leading 10 Year Warranty on All Roofs
Any reputable Washington roofing contractor, at the base level, must have two things: industry experience and quality products. Someone can have great skills and application techniques, but offer low-grade products that will fail under Washington’s varied weather. The same goes for the opposite combination of great products, but lack-luster workmanship. Weather is brutal, and it will find the weak spots in a shoddy roofing job and possibly compromise the integrity of your expensive roof. A&R guarantees the quality of both our materials and our work, and we backed up that guarantee with our unrivaled 10 year warranty.
Yes, you heard right, we offer an unprecedented 10 year warranty on all of our roofs. Our closest competitors will only offer you a maximum of 5 years. Add to that the fact that we have never had a warranty claim, and you get why we’re the fastest growing roofing contractor in the San Juan Islands. But don’t take our word for it, check out our reviews on Yelp!
Only-the-Best Products and Materials
Always on the critical lookout for a superior product to anything we use, we have pruned our choice of materials down to just one or two companies per-product. At A&R, our portfolio of products are industry leading and have been proven to last for many years, even in our rainy Washington weather. Below are some of the amazing companies we are proud to use in our roofing services:
Our Thorough Installation Process
We pride ourselves on being methodical and thorough throughout our roofing jobs. It is our goal for there to be zero evidence we were at your property except for a spiffy new roof. Despite our meticulousness, we can scale up our crews to complete most of our residential and small commercial roofing jobs in just a single day.
The safety of our talented employees and anyone near any of our active projects is our number one concern at all times. No matter how big or small the job is, if we are getting up on a roof, we will be using safety equipment. We ensure our staff is adequately trained and always uses anti-fall protection harnesses, no matter the grade of roof. We also comply with all state and federal safety regulations, unlike much of our competition, sadly, who we’ve found often fail to use anti-fall protection in particular.
Weather Limitations – We have none!
In our wet Washington climate, roofing projects can be delayed by inclement weather. But at A&R, we have tried-and-true methods in place for roofing. Even when it tries to rain on our parade, you’ll be assured your project will continue anyway and without a hitch. We have a fool-proof method to roof in the rain by using a proprietary polycarbonate membrane and large space heaters to completely shield and actively dry the project areas.
We carefully cover anything that could remotely be dirtied or damaged in the roofing process. This includes vehicles, decking, pools and hot tubs, and landscaping – just to name a few things. We’ve got stuff too, and we care about your stuff as if it were our own.
Underlayment: We exclusively use Gator-Skin as our underlayment of choice, a far superior option to traditional tar paper, to keep all water, wind and debris out of your home. We also double-up and add Ice and Water Shield in all valleys, along edges, in gables, and anywhere else appropriate to curb erosion and wear-and-tear on your home.
Shingle Roofs (Architectural & 3-Tab): We use 5 nails instead of the industry standard 4, to ensure our shingles are extra-secured. We typically will machine nail, but if a customer prefers hand nailing or the situation necessitates it, we are happy to hand nail instead.
Metal Roofs: We are picky about the metal sheets we use, and never use material that has any cracks or dings in the metal, as that leads to accelerated rust and corrosion. We can provide virtually any color metal roof, and offer both screw-down and snap-lock varieties.
Single-Ply PVC Roofs: We use half-inch thick single-ply PVC, which is an excellent and affordable alternative to metal or asphalt roofs, and provides great temperature flexibility and UV resistance in the varied Washington weather. If you currently have a hot-tar roof, we encourage you to contact us about our single-ply PVC roofing solutions — the future of hot-tar roofs!
Sealing & Caulking: We exclusively use Geocel products for sealants and caulks. We generously double-caulk everything, especially in valleys and joints, to ensure your roof lasts a lifetime. There is a reason we’ve never had a roof leak!
We take post-job clean-up incredibly seriously. How we leave customers’ homes and businesses is the strongest lasting impression they tend to have of us after we leave. On top of removing all material and cleaning up after ourselves, we double-check for any stray nails with magnets to ensure your property is spotless and there are no safety hazards.
Recycling and Responsible Disposal
Unlike many of our competitors, we make certain to recycle all materials that are eligible. We also responsible dispose of all waste that isn’t recyclable. We love our beautiful state of Washington and want to do our part to keep it as pristine and sustainable as possible.
TYPES OF WASHINGTON ROOFS WE OFFER
Although you might find a roofing contractor that knows how to work solely on your type of roof, choosing a roofing company, like A&R, that is confident in various types of roof and materials only benefits you. We believe it speaks to our overall skill, expertise, and competence in the roofing industry. We often can share insight and advice on roofing choices and decisions that a smaller or less experienced contractor cannot.
The most popular kind of roofs, this type is made out of premium-grade asphalt shingles. The shingle tabs typically come in various sizes, which can create a dimensional look to the roof. We recommend IKO Cambridge shingles.
Similar to architectural roofs, 3-Tab roofs are are comprised of asphalt shingles, but they usually only come in one shingle tab size and shape, resulting in a more uniform and flat look. The cost is typically about the same as well.
Metal roofs are resistant to fire, mildew, insects, and rot. They’re also lighter than asphalt and are great at radiating heat away from your attic/home. Metal roofs are a bit sneaky and sometimes made to look like other types of roofing.
SINGLE-PLY PVC ROOFS
A newer offering, PVC roofs have many of the benefits of metal roofing but at a reduced cost. Very strong and resistant to the expected elements, these roofs are the perfect upgrade from an aged hot-tar roof.
We appreciate you considering A&R Construction for your roofing needs. If you have additional questions or would like to schedule a time for us to come out and give you a free estimate, please reach out at your convenience.
